Went for breakfast/lunch. I had a yummy lobster roll and poutine. Service was good, food was good & place was tidy.

I have been stopping here twice a year for over 30 years on my way to vacation in Nova Scotia.
Back in the day , it was fabulous-the proverbial outstanding quality and portions " truck stop."
I know what happened that caused the trucks to disappear. The food has deteriorated to almost inedible. Although the gas station is Irving, the food franchise is managed (now) by a food service giant that clearly has the bean counters running the cuisine. Coffee was bitter  didn't taste much like coffee and was basically undrinkable. (Major disappointment-it used to be pretty good but that's when they knew coffee for customers had a shelf life after being brewed of 20 minutes.) Tried ordering scrambled eggs. What was served was "strips of cooked egg material" including the reorder when the first was sent back because it neither looked nor tasted like eggs , let alone scrambled. One of my party  with some food service experience asked whether these were fresh eggs or a preparation poured from a carton. The waitress shamefacedly confirmed it was egg mixture. The toast was toasted on only one side and the bacon was in part almost  raw. The omelet was also poured from a carton and tasted as such. The menu was new and corporate glitzy with astonishing prices for a gas station diner. If the quality had been what it was even a few years ago let alone 20 ,it would have been worth it. As it is, look elsewhere for breakfast. Compared to this you're better of at (gulp) even McDonald's.  The wait staff was pleasant and appropriately dismayed and apologetic despite efforts to reassure her that our complaints were no reflection on her. Too bad.Always looked forward to this oasis at the east end of the Airline (route 9).

The pork stew was great. Thick beef broth with carrots, potatoes, celery and onion were some of veggies in it. Pancakes were huge.

This is a truck stop diner but the food will surprise you. The menu has a decent selection at decent prices. The specials are usually good, and the desserts are too. Breakfast is great! Service is almost always prompt and friendly. Always one of your better options for a quick bite.
